FAQs

Where would I eat during my stay?

The town of Jacksonville has a lot of options for eating. For breakfast, the Good Bean has fresh bagels and pastries, as well as eggs and french toast. Bella Union is one of the most popular spots and offers Italian food and has a bar. Bigham Knoll Crossing is a German Restaurant about a block from the main strip. The restaurant sits atop a knoll and has a natural looking putt-putt golf course as well. La Fiesta is an enjoyable Mexican spot. Umi Sushi and Backporch are also good options.

Ray's grocery store is about a block from town. Also, Ashland is only 30 minutes away which has a wide variety of restaurants.

What are the housing options?

Tastefully furnished apartments are available in downtown Jacksonville, a short and scenic 20 minute drive to Wood Racquet Ranch.  Each apartment has a bedroom that either has a double bed or two single beds, as well as a pull out couch in the living room.  There is also a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. There are large flat screen tv's in the bedroom and the living room, as well as full Wifi and Internet access. Washers and driers are available onsite. Jacksonville, a charming Gold Rush town built in the 1860s, has everything you desire within walking distance - great restaurants, enticing antique shops, a clean, safe atmosphere where kids can ride bikes and the wonderful outdoor Britt Music Festival.

What local activities are there in the Jacksonville/Applegate Valley vicinity?

Playing tennis and jumping in the Applegate River at the Wood Racquet Ranch is a perfect combination on a hot day during the summer months.

Click here to check out the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce website. Music, outdoor activities, browsing shops in town, wine tasting and biking are some activities to explore. The lakes and rivers in Southern Oregon are spectacular during the summer months. Our recent guests have enjoyed river rafting on the Rogue River with Jefferson State Outfitters.  Visiting Applegate Lake for swimming and renting kayaks and paddle boards is a great activity. The National Park, Crater Lake, is only an hour away and shouldn't be missed. Ashland is a must-see small town as well.

How much tennis will I play?

This is up to you! Many of my guests will have two sessions each day - 1.5-2 hours in the morning and then another 1.5-2 hours in the late afternoon. Other guests opt to play for a few hours in the morning and then have their afternoons free to explore and enjoy Southern Oregon.
